About this Credit Guide

This Credit Guide sets out important information to help you decide whether to accept our assistance in obtaining a credit contract or commercial finance facility.

This Credit Guide explains:
• Who we are & how to contact us;
• Engagement & Conditions;
• Fees & Commissions;
• Referrers & Referral Fees;
• Our Responsible Lending obligations;
• Credit Providers we conduct business with; and
• What to do if you have a complaint.

We are required to provide this Credit Guide to you as soon as practicable after it becomes apparent we are likely to provide credit assistance to you.

What is Credit Assistance?

We provide “Credit Assistance” when we:

1. Suggest or assist you to apply for a particular credit contract with a particular credit provider;
or
2. Suggest or assist you to apply for an increase to the credit limit of a particular credit contract;
or
3. Suggest you remain in a particular credit contract with a particular credit provider. 

Engagement and Conditions

You (the client) engage us (VIM Capital) to arrange a loan or finance facility on your behalf. You acknowledge that we act as an independent contractor to assist you to obtain and negotiate finance suited to your needs.

Fees Payable by You

We may charge a fee for our services. Details of any applicable fee will be set out in a separate ‘Credit Quote’ prior to a finance application being lodged. No commission is payable by you to us directly – any commission is paid by the credit provider.

How We and Our Representatives Are Paid

We are paid commissions by credit providers for introducing clients. Commissions are generally based on the size and type of finance facility provided.
We only receive a commission if your loan is settled, and it is paid to us by the lender or via our aggregator. Commission types include:

• Upfront Commission – typically 0% to 5% of the amount financed, depending on product type.
• Volume Bonus – additional commission may be payable based on the total volume of business arranged with a lender.
If you would like a detailed estimate of the commission payable by a particular lender, we will provide it upon request.

Referrers and Referral Fees

In some cases, your business may have been referred to us by third parties such as accountants, insurance brokers, or motor resellers. Where applicable, we may pay a referral fee to these parties. If we do, they should have already disclosed this to you.

If you wish to know the specific amount of any referral fee paid, we will advise you upon request.

Preliminary Assessment and Responsible Lending

When providing credit assistance, we must only recommend products that are not unsuitable for you. To make this determination, we will complete a Preliminary Assessment that considers:

• Your requirements and objectives (what you need the finance for);
• Your financial and personal situation; and
• Your ability to repay the finance.

We may verify your information by requesting supporting documents such as payslips, bank statements, or financial reports, and, where appropriate, we may contact third parties to confirm the information provided.

Obtaining a Copy of Your Preliminary Assessment

You may request a copy of your Preliminary Assessment at any time. We must provide it:

• Within 7 business days of your request if it is made within 2 years of the assessment; or
• Within 21 business days if the request is made between 2 and 7 years after the assessment.

There is no charge for requesting or receiving a copy of your Preliminary Assessment.

Credit Providers We Use

We source credit products from a range of banks, lenders, and specialist finance providers. A current list of VIM Capital’s panel of lenders and credit providers is available upon request or via www.vimcapital.com.au.

Dispute Resolution and Complaints

We take complaints seriously and follow structured procedures to resolve any concerns quickly and fairly.

We will acknowledge your complaint within 7 days and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
